Meet the neighbours
We have 90+ friendly neighbours who’ve built new homes here at Sarilia. Many commute to work in Saskatoon, and enjoy the feeling of the weight lifting off their shoulders as they descend into the river valley at the end of the day.
They're also our greatest ambassadors. Here’s what they have to say about river valley living…
Tell & May
"We came in the winter to see Sarilia and really liked the river view and the community. It just looked nice and peaceful—it reminded me of lake properties." — May
"We have a corgi named Mason. He likes running around down on the river trails." — Tell

Dayton & Courtney
"We came to look at it (the house we bought) around sunset. We walked out on the balcony and watched the sun setting over the river—and we were sold." — Dayton
"Our friends and family all want to move out here. Dayton’s mom wants to move out here and his parents literally live down the road." — Courtney
Linda & Dave
"We went online and happened to see a house for sale at Sarilia, and we came to look at it. And I fell in love with it immediately. Even though you feel like you're in the country, you have that community that is close by and we have made friends here. Especially our neighbour next door. We keep an eye on each other's places when we're away. It’s the best of both worlds here." — Linda

Patti & Lyle
"Our new house is surrounded by trees. Our deck is quite high and it’s almost like being in a treehouse now because it’s enveloped in trees—it's like a jungle in the spring and summer. There are so many birds—we've had robins nesting on the deck this summer and the bird feeders are always busy! We have chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits too as well as the occasional deer." — Patti

Kelly & Andrew
"One thing I missed was seeing the night sky in full, or seeing storms coming through. It's just something that you don't get unless you live in the country. And so we started researching Sarilia a bit more after we drove out there and we saw how affordable it was." — Kelly

Chelsey
"My sister, who lives in Swift Current, sent me a listing for a different house at Sarilia, but it didn't have a garage. Then I just started looking at other houses in the area and found the one that we bought. We knew about Sarilia, but in all honesty, we didn't think it would ever be in our price range so we didn't even consider looking out here."

Jeni & Cass
"Our kids love the space. We’ve always been very outdoor people, so it’s given us a lot of freedom to be out and exploring. It’s a cool experience being back out in the country—it’s exactly how I grew up and I’m excited for my kids to grow up in the same type of environment." — Cass
"It’s just great for kids to have all that nature to explore and not have to be cooped up inside." — Jeni

Vaughn & Stacey
"Sarilia feels a little bit safer. There's less traffic and you know your neighbours. We know everybody. You look out for each other in that respect. There's lots of young kids out here too — a lot of young families are moving in."

"Our first impression was that we just want to live (at Sarilia) for the calmness and the view. Upon talking to Gwen a few days later, we realized the little free library, the river, and the little nature reserves all around were just kind of bonuses."

Amber & Matt
"It may seem cliché, but moving out to the country has really transformed our lives. It seems like we take more time to sit and enjoy our surroundings and each other. Dinners with friends, bonfires on the beach, our kids growing up together...We're so looking forward to this at Sarilia."

Dessa & Jordan
"Our first impression was that Sarilia was nice and quiet—it had beautiful views and it’s right by the river. We liked that it was a small community because we wanted to be out of the city. We spend more time outside now—we like going down to the river. Our older son really likes to play down there, and the dog plays in the water. We like to be down by the beach."

Annette & Al
"We enjoy lots of gatherings with our neighbours here. You don't always have to be driving somewhere - you have everything you need in your own community when it comes to social activities. And it's not just socializing but recreation as well. There's so much to do - skiing, walking the trails, and with the river right there you can go canoeing or kayaking or just sit on the shoreline and fish."

Kayla
"I think the Little Free Library is a great addition to our community. Literacy is so important for everyone and it’s in a great area to just stop and grab something while out for a walk. My daughter gets super excited when we go down to see what’s new. We are constantly reading, I’m a bit of a book worm and she’s definitely picked up that trait!"

Sherry & Don
"Our first impression of Sarilia was that it was really beautiful. We loved the fresh air, the rolling hills and the river. Being a prairie girl, people don't think you should have a connection to water but I always have and I think I speak for Don as well!"
Zee & Sofia
"As soon as we began going down the hill to Sarilia, we felt a sense of calmness, peace and serenity. We were warmly invited by Gwen and Ronn to visit their home and talk about the type of community Sarilia is. The community is surrounded by very like-minded people. Anyone who loves the outdoors would easily be attracted to the natural beauty of Sarilia."
